Biofuels

Also known as biomass, biofuels are alternative to tradiational fossil fuels. Rather than burning coal and oils that can take million of years to regenerate, you can burn plants and other vegetable biproducts which regenerate every year. Just like fossil fuels, using biofuels works by:

  1. Burning plants and oils to generate heat.

  2. Heating up water that turns into steam.

  3. Using the steam to turn a turbine.

Using biofuels is considered a very renewable form of energy, since the supply is replensihed on a yearly basis. Additionally, biofuels can also be used for cars and other transportation methods as an alternative to gasoline. However, one of the major concerns with biofuels is having enough land space to grow enough crop. Since crops are used for food already, there is concern that using biofuels would decrease the available food supply in the world.
